Hi Friends!
So, we definitely caused a little bit of a stir last week. Between this newsletter and the various social media efforts we put forth to support it, we were bombed with comments and messages regarding what we reported about this year’s upcoming Monterey Car Week.
I’ll admit, when I hit the send button and moved last week’s piece on to the Motorwerks Email Team, I was pretty nervous about what was going to come back at us. I assumed there was going to be a lot of finger pointing, name calling and general mannerless internet posturing, but the overall response was quite the opposite.
First of all, everyone pretty much agreed that Monterey is still doing more things right than they are doing wrong, and although the program may be changing a little bit, it will always be worth going if you can. Additionally, aside from a couple of mildly disgruntled (and somewhat understandably so) folks local to the Monterey area, the overwhelming majority of people agreed with the frustrations other people we talked to were experiencing as well. There were even several other accounts that reposted our materials with surveys of their own, who got back to us with nearly identical results to ours (as always, the results from our poll last week are at the bottom of this email). Across the board, everyone was very civil and very kind, but all seemed to be equally concerned about the future.
With these concerns in mind, this also opened up the discussion about the other two major car week events in the United States (of course, those being Arizona in January and the events in Amelia Island, and Miami, Florida in March). The discussion centered on what people thought they were doing right or doing wrong there and what people hoped to see more or less of in those places in down the line as well.
From where we sit (full disclosure: we’re located about 15 minutes from Phoenix/Scottsdale in Gilbert, Arizona) we definitely think that one is doing more things better than the other two, and although we suspect everyone else would likely agree with this assessment, we’d like to extend this discussion and get your thoughts.
Stay tuned, as there will be a part 3 next week.
In the meantime, I’m always open to exchanging thoughts and ideas via my social media or through email here. Feel free to reach out with your feedback or just to chat about cool car car stuff of any kind.
That’s it for this week…
